Watch the Gentlemen in Eastern Europe riding their custom machines at Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2016

For those of you who don’t know us, we’re based in Bucharest, the Capital of Romania. For the others of you who don’t know what is Romania, take a look in Eastern Europe. Now let’s get back to Bucharest. Although we don’t have a Roland Sands over here, there is a growing custom/retro scene.

It’s been three years since Bucharest takes part in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (that business-suit parade). It’s just one of the 500 cities around the world where men in suits ride retro and custom bikes to fight prostate cancer.

This year, there were more than 80 riders. We saw some beautiful custom motorcycles based on bikes such as BMW R80, Honda CX, Kawasaki GPZ, Suzuki DR650, Yamaha XJR and so on.

The DriveMag Riders Team also had a member who took part in the parade. Bogdan Buleandra, our performance-bike test-rider, is also a custom-bike aficionado and he built his own machine based on a 1997 Kawasaki Estrella. You can see his report in the movie above.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is maybe the fastest-growing motorcycle event. It was founded in 2012 by an Australian – Mark Hawwa, and the event is supported by Triumph Motorcycles since 2013.

Number of participants, by year:

  • 2012: 2.500
  • 2013: 11.000
  • 2014: 20.000
  • 2015: 62.000
