This year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is scheduled to take place on September 27th, but this time around the motorcycle event will feature an adjusted format. It still is a worldwide rider’s gathering and unfortunately due to the current Covid-19, each biker will have to ride alone or with a pillion.
All riders will still be able to register to ride, select their country and city, and fundraise for prostate cancer research and men’s health. In other words, no mass participation for the 2020 Distinguished Gentleman Ride. The event is encouraging the participants to ride solo for and increase awareness for men’s health and fundraise for this cause as well. Riders will be encouraged to dress dapper and ride alone to comply with social distancing measures. This year’s theme is focused on the first solo ride of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride event. Each rider will ride alone, dressed dapper with a full-face helmet and visor resembling COVID-safe personal protective equipment.
The organizers encourage the participants to ride downtown or secondary roads and they also suggest to ride no longer than two hours. There will be no defined route this year. The course can be set by each participant at their own discretion to chose where he wants to ride.
After the online registration and completing your course, there will be directions regarding uploading and sharing photos. Moreover, there will be possible to have a live map where riders can find photos shared across the world this being another task the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride organizers want to achieve – connecting globally to fight for the same cause. Also, if the weather looks like it will rain on September 27th, the organizers claim that it’s not a problem to complete the ride any day before or after the actual day.
It’s a good decision to schedule such an event at a global scale regarding the fact that travel and health restrictions due to the COVID-19 enforce social distancing. It looks like the 2020 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride event is set to start.
