The Thai GP has been reprogrammed for October
Dorna announced the 2020 MotoGP calendar. The updates confirm the first race of the Premier Class scheduled at the Circuit of the Americas in April and the Thailand GP set for October.
The updates are a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns and travel restrictions enforced. The outcome of this situation was cancelling the Qatar round for the Premier Class and to postpone the Thailand GP.
“Our aim is to maintain the Championship with the maximum number of races,” said Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna Sports CEO.
Valentino Rossi and other riders from the MotoGP class were affected by these travel restrictions while the Moto2 and Moto3 riders and teams which were already present at the Qatar track due to testing sessions have now the chance to race in Qatar on March 08.
So, the first race for the Premier Class is scheduled for April 05 at the Circuit of the Americas, US.
