BMW R18 was spotted by the paparazzi. It features a bagger shape and a huge TFT screen
The BMW R18 Cruiser is almost ready to be unveiled. And it will come in a bagger version, according to these spy-pictures published by Rideapart.
Also, the motorcycle is fitted with a front bat-fairing with a windscreen, a large dual seat, two straight exhaust pipes (one on each side of the bike) and side cases. Furthermore, the seat height is set low.
It also features a device that might be a radar for adaptive cruise control. Similar systems were tested by Ducati and KTM on their big-adventure bikes.
Other features include a steel cradle frame, large front and rear fenders, a different fork compared to the Concept R18, a Softail rear end, alloy wheels and BMW has added two additional headlights.
The riding position seems to be not so relaxed as on the big Harley-Davidson and Indian V-Twins, due to the boxer engine architecture.
Unlike the American twins, the big boxer doesn’t seem to allow a foot-forward riding position, which might be upsetting for the cruiser aficionados.
The dash is fitted with four large clocks and a big TFT display. So, we can expect the BMW R18 based touring bike to have an infotainment system with GPS, adaptive cruise control, music and other features.
The BMW R18 based touring bike features the 1,802cc boxer engine from the concept model which could be making 91 hp at 4,750 rpm and 158 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm.
