Dakar 2020, Day Nine: Barreda Crashes Early in the Stage

Dakar 2020, Day Nine: Barreda crashes early in the stage 1

The road to Haradh leads the riders on a 415 km special. We know that yesterday, Stage eight was cancelled and the riders are ready to push in today’s special to recover the lost time. It seems Joan Barreda was on the attack-mode and the rider had a minor crash early in the special. Brabec still leads on Stage nine after the 156 km mark 1m14s ahead of Pablo Quintanilla (Husqvarna) and Toby Price (KTM)

The 2020 Dakar returned to action after Stage eight was cancelled due to the death of Paulo Gonçalves in Stage Seven.

Barreda has been too eager to push his Honda through the hard ground and several rough sections of the stage and after 100 km in the special he had a minor fall. Before Stage nine, the rider was 29m29s behind the leader Ricky Brabec in the overall standings.

Brabec still leads the special after 156 km in front of Quintanilla and Price. We have to wait and see who will win after the 415 km long special.

Update: Quintanilla, Brabec, Barreda and Price fight for the win. The four riders are only separated by 32 seconds after 244 km into the special!
