$24,900 limited edition superbike was found in San Diego
This Ducati 996 R from the early 2000s was abandoned in a company's garage. It’s brand new and features top-spec components such as Brembo brakes with four-piston callipers on the front. The motorcycle is a limited edition model with serial number 390 (VIN – ZDMH200AA1B013847).
Only 500 units were built by Ducati back in 2001 and this 996 R was found abandoned in a garage at a specialized company in San Diego, USA. Moreover, the motorcycle is in brand new condition as it was found standing in the factory box.
Looking at the dash, the bike is a European spec model as the speedo displays kilometres. It features a V-twin engine making 136 hp at 10,200 rpm, and 105 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. The R comes from Racing and the superbike features top-spec components such as Brembo brakes with four-piston callipers on the front and Ohlins suspension.
Each model has a metal nameplate showing the serial number and this one features the number 390 (VIN – ZDMH200AA1B013847). Furthermore, this Ducati 996 R has never been registered.
Its story is quite impressive as back in early 2000, someone delivered the motorcycle at a company. Due to unknown circumstances, the owner of the bike never pick it up and the 996 R was put into storage and it was left behind sitting quietly in its factory box.
According to the rules of the contract, after a certain time, if the customer stops paying for services and does not take his property, it becomes the property of the company, which happened in 2012. So, the bike was put on sale and sold in a couple of months for the price of $24,900.
