Great Caucasus Ride: The Wonders of Cappadocia - Turkey [Ep. 3] 1

The third stop of our motorcycle adventure story: Turkey. We spent some magic days in one of the most beautiful places on Earth: Cappadocia.

Our plan for Turkey was different. We wanted to see film one of the most dangerous roads on the Earth, located in the Trabzon Region [North-East]. Then, it had to be Cappadocia, the Turquoise Coast, and Pamukkale. But you know what they say: the best-laid plans go astray.

The bikes: 2015 BMW R1200GS & 2016 BMW R1200GS Adventure

After a rainy trip in Moldova and those outstanding views of the Great Caucasus in Georgia, it was time for Turkey. The D915 road was our first objective. Some people say it’s one of the most dangerous roads in the world, especially when it rains, and it’s fog outside. And, guess what: it was raining, and it was fog outside.

We managed to get out alive, but we couldn’t film the road as we hoped. We had the lunch at a small restaurant (a hovel, to be more precise), then we got back on the road to Cappadocia.

It was dark outside when we stopped at the edge of a village to revive ourselves. Suddenly, a guy with a large gun on his chest appears. Picture it: in the middle of the night, somewhere in western Turkey, a man with a machine-gun coming to you.

“Hello, mates,” he salutes friendly.
“Hello, is this a wrong place to stop?”
“No, not at all. It’s just a police checkpoint. Come on, let’s have a tea. Where are you from?”

We talked about football, tourism, about how great is Istanbul but it’s not a city to live in, because of its heavy traffic. Then we left, and we looked for accommodation.

The day after we reached Cappadocia. One of the most beautiful places in the world.

The trip was sponsored by KMG International – Romania, Moldova, Georgia, Turkey, and Bulgaria are the countries where KMG International developed activities in the past 14 years. Turkey was the third stop.
