KTM is preparing to enter the small-displacement adventure class with its 390 Adventure
KTM is developing a small adventure motorcycle based on the 390 Duke naked. It will compete in the all-new small-sized adventure class which includes the BMW G310R, Honda CRF 250 Rally and Kawasaki Versys-X 300.
The motorcycle photographed by the paparazzi is an early-prototype, and it comes with supermoto spoked wheels. We're expecting a 19 in – 21 in front on the series model. On the other hand, the front-end looks almost finished with that Dakar-inspired headlight and windshield.
The bike will use the 375 cc power plant, capable of 44 horsepower in its Duke set-up. While the 390 Duke weights 139 kg dry, we expect that the Adventure shouldn’t weight more than 150 kg dry and 170 kg wet.
We’ll probably see the production version at EICMA 2017, while the bike should hit the market as a 2018 model. Just like its rivals, it won’t be built in the same factory as the bigger and more expensive models. The KTM will use its India plant.
There are many spy photos online right now. These ones were published by Cycle World and Motorcycle.com, and you may see two different riders and two different sets of tires. Probably the spy-shooting took place in different days.
