BMW is preparing an update to its luxury touring range: a new K1600 Bagger and a K1600GTL. The paparazzi spotted them on the street.
BMW might present its updated models this autumn at Intermot and EICMA Motorcycle shows.
Judging by the spy shots published by MCN, there are not substantial differences regarding K1600GTL’s design. But at a closer look, we spotted a slightly different fairing, for improved aerodynamics and a different windscreen to reshape the air flow and reduce turbulences.
We may see another difference under the fairings: the MCN journalists suggested that the new GT could have a quick-shifter, a cornering ABS and maybe an intelligent emergency call system.
The Bagger
But if the K1600GTL looks mostly the same, it’s the Bagger who turns out to be the most interesting machine. Aiming the American market, it follows Concept 101’s lines (pictured above). It has a bagger-style rear, with two dropping side-cases, two large horizontal exhaust pipes, and a lower pillion seat. The front looks similar to the old K1600GT.
Both models should share the same K1600 platform: the 160 horsepower inline-six engine, same brakes, same suspension (Duolever, Paralever) same electronics.
