The entire BMW Group enjoyed the best-ever June and first half-year in sales. The Mottorad division delivered a total of 17,260 motorcycles and maxi-scooters to customers this June, accounting for a 15,1-percent increase over the same month last year.

Total sales in the first half of the year rose 9.5 percent to 88,389 units sold, allowing BMW Motorrad to set a new record. The largest market for BMW motorcycles was once again Germany, where the sales increased by 4.9 percent. The European market as a whole also bought more BMW bikes in the first six months of this year — 12.9-percent more to be exact.

France is the new European leader for sales growth with a 21-percent increase this year to 9,948 units. Italy follows with a growth of 15 percent to 9,099 units. South America is another region where BMW Motorrad increased deliveries, with a 16.3-percent rise and 8,306 units sold. In the United States, sales are up 3.8-percent, with 7,157 bikes sold.

The R1200GS and R1200GS A models are the best-selling BMW models. Nevermind the massive service campaign, this model is still a favorite. Actually, the entire boxer R range is a success, with more than 49,240 units sold this year.
