Marquez firmly claimed the first position and became the MotoGP leader with 70 points. At the Jerez race he was followed by Zarco and Iannone. Valentino Rossi wasn’t able to shine but he hit another milestone – 40075 km on a GP motorcycle – the circumference of the planet at the equator.
It all happened just a couple of laps before the finish. While fighting Andrea Dovizioso for the second positon, Lorenzo had a contact with Dani Pedrosa that sent him back directly in Andrea Dovizioso’s motorcycle. All three of them walked away unharmed from the "Dry Sack" turn crash. Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) started on pole position eam but failed to finish, crashing out at turn one after nine laps and while in fourth place.
