Will the RRW steal the title from Yamaha at this year’s Suzuka 8-Hours race?

The Japanese manufacturer released its latest machine for Endurance racing, the CBR1000RRW. This motorcycle comes with a unique purpose, to get Honda back on the podium in one of the toughest competition in the world. Based on the current World Superbike machine the CBR1000RRW features a lot of interesting changes.

When it comes to endurance racing, the bikes are mainly designed to deliver maximum power and run for 8h to 24h with two or three riders. Everything has to be easy to fit, and the parts have to last in their top shape throughout the whole race. For the CBR1000RR, Honda made some interesting changes: except the looks that are mainly Endurance focused, the Red company chosed to go with Nissin callipers and Yutaka discs instead of Brembo and the Cosworth electronics were swapped for Magneti Marelli.

The CBR 1000RRW will debut in the All Japan Superbike Championship with rider Takumi Takahashi behind the handlebars. Takahashi will also race in the Suzuka 8 Hours race together with two other teammates. We already know about a potential collaboration with Thomas Luthi and Franco Morbidelli, but nothing is certain so far.

The Suzuka 8 Hours race is one of the most important for all the Japanese manufacturers, but most importantly for Honda. The track is close to Honda’s Hamamatsu factory, and nothing compares to a win in front of the home crowd. The biggest challenge for the CBR1000RRW will be to stand against Yamaha's factory team that won the race in the last three years.
