Triumph Tiger 900 Is Imminent. Radical Changes

Triumph Tiger 900 is Imminent. Radical changes 1

Is it just us, or it has that F850GS look?

Triumph is working on a new middleweight Tiger. There are some spy-shots on the internet right now that shows an almost-complete bike, with new chassis, reworked engine, and a new dash. The new Tiger also features new styling – it quits the emblematic Triumph double headlight and seen from different angles it looks similar to the F850GS.

The photos were published by MCN and they show us a completely new bike. The chassis changes seem to be the most important – the new Triumph Tiger features a different frame composed by a tubular steel main frame, similar to the old one and a new, bolt-on, sub-frame. So the pillion pegs are not welded to the main frame anymore.

The guys at MCN are suggesting that the engine size might be increased to 887 cc. This way, the new Tiger would keep it up with its main rivals – the F850GS, the KTM 790 Adventure and the Africa Twin. The thing is to keep the low-end grunt while coming up with a 95-100hp figure and also comply with the Euro 5 and 6 regulations.

The suspension comes from Showa, and not WP anymore, and it seems to offer a longer travel. The swing-arm is also new and the whole look of the bike seems to be more off-road oriented than before – traditionally, the Tiger was on the street-use side in the class. No clues about the seat-height, but this new Tiger seems to be taller than before.

There’s also a tablet-like whole-new TFT dash that we might see on most of the new Triumph bikes from now on.

No clues about the launch date.
