Valentino Rossi undergoes successfully leg surgery 1

The Doctor’s right leg fractures were successfully repaired last night at the 'Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Ospedali Riuniti' in Ancona. The surgery took place between 2am-3am, and it was a success.

The fractured tibia and fibula were fixated using a metal pin – a locked intramedullary nail. The surgery was performed by Dr. Raffaele Pascarella, Director of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Division at the Ancona hospital.

After we woke up this morning Rossi stated: "The surgery went well. This morning, when I woke up, I felt already good. I would like to thank the staff of the Ospedali Riuniti in Ancona, and in particular Doctor Pascarella who operated on me. I'm very sorry for the incident. Now I want to be back on my bike as soon as possible. I will do my best to make it happen!”

The Yamaha Movistar rider injured his leg during an endure training yesterday near his home town. He is currently in the 4th position at 27 points behind the leader Andreea Dovizioso and only six rounds to go. The injury will keep him away from the next two rounds ( Misano and Aragon). The hopes of wining his 10th world championship are ruined
