Yamaha Motor Europe (YME) and Yamaha Austria Racing Team (YART) GYTR Pro Shop put the covers off this limited edition replica of the Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (PYSRT) YZR-M1. It has the MotoGP livery of the team’s two racers, Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo, while the price tag sits at €46,000.00 (without VAT).
The project was commissioned by YART and supported by Yamaha Motor Europe and Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team which is the MotoGP squad of Championship leader Quartararo and his teammate, Morbidelli. This limited edition replica is based on the Yamaha MotoGP bike and features a bunch of performance upgrades. Of course, it’s designed only for track use.
To begin with, it features a Genuine Yamaha Technology for Racing (GYTR) carbon fairing kit and MotoGP winglets. Hard to believe we could ever see MotoGP winglets on an R1, but this limited edition replica has them and moreover, the bike is covered with Petronas Yamaha SRT livery, which is supplied by the same company that paint the team’s MotoGP race machines.
Suspension wise, the Yamaha R1 MotoGP replica features high-performance Öhlins race suspension, including the FGRT 2 road & track front fork, TTX rear shock, a race specification steering damper and is fitted with a factory kit exhaust.
As it was designed for track use, GYTR fitted a rear-wheel quick-change system, to make replacing the rear wheel quicker following a tyre change. The race parts don’t end here. Also, the bike is fitted with racing footrests, ECU and quick action throttle just like on the racing bikes.
The braking system is provided by Brembo and comes with GP4-RX callipers and T-Drive discs. Moreover, the Yamaha R1 MotoGP replica is equipped with Brembo remote brake adjuster and clutch levers. The bike will be supplied with Michelin race slicks fitted front and rear to the seven-spoke aluminium Marchesini wheels.
The Yamaha R1 MotoGP replica will be manufactured as a limited edition bike and only 50 units will be produced. The price tag is set at €46,000.00 (without VAT) and includes a KYT Helmet, Petronas Yamaha SRT polo shirt and a MotoGP VIP Guest Pass. The motorcycle will be available for delivery across Europe.
