Here’s a solution to find your way through road and offroad adventure trips. It comes from Garmin who launched a new all-terrain GPS motorcycle navigator in the form of the zūmo XT. It has a larger display featuring an ultra-bright touchscreen offering riders a better view of the screen on bright sunny days.

The GPS has a new 5.5-inch touchscreen display with HD resolution. It’s rainproof and it was designed to be resistant to thanks to the military standard 810G drop-test.

Moreover, the Garmin zūmo XT is user-friendly and allows riders to toggle through street map views, topographic maps, or BirdsEye Satellite Imagery with a touch of a button.

“The zūmo XT is able to take on any type of adventure, regardless of the weather or rugged terrain, it’s ready to venture wherever the rider chooses,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales. 

“With its new, larger display offering an impressive ultra-bright touchscreen, riders will have the advantage of easily seeing their screen even on bright sunny days. Visibility of the route ahead is further enhanced with a choice to mount zūmo XT in traditional landscape or portrait mode,” he added.

Other features include the new Garmin Adventurous Routing options which allow riders to find routes with stunning landscapes and exciting roads.

For more adventurous riders the Garmin zūmo XT offers preloaded topographic maps that show public land boundaries and offroad routes. Riders can plan their journeys with the help of the Garmin Explore feature. You can connect the zūmo XT to your smartphone or computer and with the Birdseye Satellite Imagery, you can download maps to help continue the journey through places without an Internet signal.

Furthermore, the zūmo XT features a History database to allow riders to save their favourite journies, iOverlander points of interest, Ultimate Public Campgrounds, a U.S. National Parks directory and TripAdvisor traveller ratings and Foursquare content.

It also has a new track recorder option integrated into the GPS which comes in handy to store or share adventures with other riders. The Garmin Drive app can wirelessly import GPX files and offer riders the possibility to view smart notifications, real-time fuel prices, and live4 traffic and weather.

Garmin paid attention to safety and fitted the zūmo XT with Bluetooth hands-free calling, rider alerts, automatic incident notifications and an option to pair the GPS with a compatible Garmin inReach Satellite Communicator for two-way texting, critical location sharing, and interactive SOS.

The Garmin zūmo XT offers music streaming, Wi-Fi connection for updating the maps and software. The battery life lasts up to six hours (3.5 hours with backlight settings at 100% brightness).

What’s the cost? The Garmin zūmo XT price tag sits at $499.99 (€515 on the European market).
