Honda gives it another try with the CB 1100RS

The massive CB1100RS holds under its belt a weight of 252 KG. The steel frame is adding a lot to the entire assembly. A true passionate will rather choose to refurbish a CB stocked in a barn and end up with this numbers than buy a new one with small improvements. The RS model comes with Showa 43 mm forks, that can handle some adjustments. The rear shock is also provided by Showa, the ones with the damping reservoir. Unfortunately, the wheels are cast aluminum. This bike would look incredible with spoked wheels.

The 1140 cc engine produces at his peak a total of 66kw. Considering is an air and oil cooled engine it seems enough for a weekend ride. Oh but wait, this new engine benefits from some technology too. The electronic fuel injection contributes to the fuel consumption and delivers the power trough out the whole RPM but considering it’s weight and dimensions the fun factor kind of disappears. The new CB would be perfect for the older nostalgic.

The looks, although Honda claims this model went trough a complete reshaping, still keeps the exact look of the 70s bike. The saddle and the exhaust pipes seem to be the only difference from its old brother the CB1100.  There is a smaller amount of chrome used on the RS while the gold suspension gives the bike a racer look.
The light bulbs were replaced with LED, and the mandatory ABS system is now combined with Tokico radial calipers.
