Suzuki 100th Anniversary GSX-R1000R Gets MotoGP Livery 1

Suzuki unveiled a limited edition GSX-R1000R. The Japanese brand will build just 100 units to mark its 100th anniversary. The 1000cc superbike received a special livery similar to the blue and silver colours of the current 2020 Suzuki GSX-RR MotoGP bike which is raced this season by Alex Rins and Joan Mir. Besides the MotoGP paint scheme, the superbike is the same as the standard version.

Suzuki has been around since 1909 when they began manufacturing motorised looms. It was back in 1952 when the Japanese company started building motorcycles. The brand, as we know it today, was established in 1920 which marks the anniversary Suzuki is celebrating with the launch of the limited edition GSX-R1000R model we see in the photos.

The anniversary model received a MotoGP livery which includes the familiar electric blue paint job and silver details on the fairings of the 1960 racing bikes when Suzuki first entered into Grand Prix racing.

From a technical standpoint, the Suzuki GSX-R1000R 100th Anniversary Edition features the same variable valve timing system (VVT) to enhance torque and peak power, the 199 hp 999cc inline-four as well as the electronics package with 10 traction control modes, a quickshifter, autoblipper, launch control and cornering ABS like the standard version.

The Suzuki GSX-R1000R 100th Anniversary Edition will be available for purchase from October and will cost around €19,000.
