In a Nutshell

Built to conquer the city

The KTM attitude brings Husqvarna to a new era. The 701 comes with a revolutionary design and extra features intended to raise the adrenaline. It can easily turn you into a hooligan from the first wheelie. The engine packs enough to spice up your fun, and the weight is just at the very limit of a light bike. The 701 Supermoto is like a doctor’s prescription against boredom with immediate effect.

What We Liked

Though it seems small, the engine is the same single-cylinder used on the KTM 690. The power output number stands at 74 hp (55kw) at 7,000 rpm, and it feels extraordinary at lower revs. The 701 engine has the same character as an in-line four power-plant. It features a slippery clutch and ride-by-wire throttle that will keep you in the saddle no matter the riding style.

The Husqvarna 701 Supermoto aims to please every type of rider. It keeps the user-friendly attitude and comfort of a Supermoto but with increased performance. The 701 is ideal for city use featuring a relaxed upright position and a wide turning angle. Forget about traffic or bumpy roads, with this bike you will feel like getting over every obstacle.

The 701 electronics package consists of ride-by-wire technology with an engine management system (EMS), and ABS. The power output is more predictable, as the mapping is changed and features three riding modes. The map can be switched with a jumper located underneath the seat. Overall, the electronic fuel injection works very well giving you the feeling of a cable operated injection system.

The 701 Supermoto packs a bit of everything you need to put a big smile on your face. It can easily handle any type of rider and, it can even perform on a track. It’s amazing how much power and acceleration consistency you can get out of a single-cylinder engine. You will have a hard time retaining yourself from pulling wheelies, stoppies, or burnouts.

The innovative changes on the Husqvarna 701 are unique among its peers. The 701 features a backward mounted fuel tank that keeps the masses low and increases the maneuverability. The Brembo brakes feel very consistent and add up to the bike’s confidence. The ABS is switchable allowing you to play while the slippery clutch makes the downshifts almost unnoticeable. The relaxed supermoto position makes the 701 Supermoto ideal for city use.

The color scheme on the 701 Husqy looks pretty good. The fairings are made out of ABS plastic and share the elasticity of an Enduro bike. The headlight has a cool shape adding up to the 701’s uniqueness.

What We Disliked

The small saddle is not that comfortable, but you will forget about that when you pull the gas. The fully adjustable WP suspension will give you a plush ride with a good felling of the front wheel. Although it comes with passenger footpegs, it will be very hard for you and your pillion to get the most out of a ride.

The dash looks a bit low-budget, and the oil or turn light indicators are coming out when you land a wheelie. Other than that, the 701 Supermoto seems very well put together.
