Riding a motorcycle at a whole new level – Airborne

There’s the old figure of speech –  “when pigs fly” – that describes something impossible. But what if the motorcycles could fly? It would be awesome. Unfortunately we have to wait a bit for this to happen, but until then we can watch how the BSB or Isle of Man TT riders lift off.

Lifting the wheels off the ground is insane. Every rider experienced at least once the sensation. You first get a lump in the throat and then you hope to land safely. I don’t know about you but I love it, and I try getting higher and higher every time.

The best at this job are the British Superbike riders. The most spectacular jumps are the ones at Cadwell Park rounds. The circus is nothing compared to the spectacularity of the leaps on the section called The Mountain on the Mini-Nürburgring. British rider Josh Brookes has the best slow-motion footages with the bike flying. Watch it in the video below.

This is a don’t try it at home stunt. Obviously the riders have a lot of motocross experience and they are in full control of their bikes. You can actually see that not every rider approaches the section in the same manner. It’s probably a matter of guts and experience.

The Isle of Mann Tourist Trophy is a whole different story. The UK road signs also include Hidden Dip, so basically you have to slow down because you don’t see a thing. The TT riders have a different view of these sections. They go full throttle and they get airborne and this happens at least ten times across the entire island track.

This is not for the faint hearted, so if you even think about trying first take some motocross lessons, then you are good to go. The best part of it is that you don’t need a flight permit.
