New BMW R1200GS Adventure Is on the Way

New BMW R1200GS Adventure is On The Way 1

We might see the new version of the big R1200GS in early November at the EICMA

It’s time for a new R1200GS Adventure. And although there’s no word or “spy shots" about this in the media, we can bet that its arrival is imminent.

There’s no official information we can quote, but there’s a timeline that confirms it. Here are the “Mayan Calendar” elements regarding the new R1200GS Adventure which might be available as a 2018 model:

R1200GS Facelift – The R1200GS received the facelift last autumn, at the EICMA. According to the BMW timeline, the same treatment applies to the GSA one year later.

Four years since the launch of the first liquid cooled generation. It’s been almost four years since the R1200GS Adventure as we know it was revealed – on 7th of November 2013. Now it's 2017. Traditionally, every bike  gets an update every four years, while there's a whole new generation bike in the game every eight years.

Triple Black Special Option revealed. It's not just a coincidence that the Triple Black Special Option appears in the final countdown of a BMW GS life. Each time the Triple Black appears, the wind of change is in the air. And the Triple Black version for the current GSA appeared last summer.

We don’t now what the updated version will look like, but it will probably come in the same two packages as the facelifted version of the current R1200GS – Rallye [pictured below] and Exclusive. As for the improvements, it will probably come with revised electronics, new Dynamic ESA with fully automatic self-leveling suspension function and Hill Start Control. Considering the GS is such a successful product, it's to risky to feature radical changes so don't expect massive design updates.
