Twenty-five years anniversary for the Monster
The first Ducati Monster goes way back to 1992 when the M900 Monster was released. Now, for 2018, when the iconic Monster celebrates 25 years, the Italian manufacturer comes with an updated version of the Monster 821. The looks will get closer to its bigger brother, the Monster 1200, while the engine will remain the same.
The Ducati Monster 1200 was updated a year ago, and it was about time for Ducati to modernize the Monster 821. The changes are mainly visual and hard to tell, but the bike is thinner. The tank was redesigned, so was the tail unit, while the exhaust and the headlights are different also. A TFT dash was fitted, and it now shows the gear and fuel. To spice things up, Ducati offers an optional quick shifter (DQS) borrowed from the Panigale that works both ways.
The power plant will be the same twin-cylinder Desmodromic Testastretta 11° designed to be a structural element of the chassis. The Euro 4 compliant engine produces a peak power of 109hp (79kw). Ducati claims the 821 engine has long maintenance intervals and increased reliability. It only needs a valve check at every 30,000 km
