No Upcoming Harley-Davidson Bronx

Harley-Davidson has quietly dropped the Bronx model from its future model list. This means that we’ll not get the chance to see the Milwaukee brand unveil a streetfighter machine. The Pan America adventure motorcycle, eBicycles, electric concepts and high-performance custom models still remain on the 2021 development plans.

It looks like the Harley-Davidson Bronx was removed from the future motorcycle release plans due to the brand’s ‘Hardwire’ strategy to reduce its model range by a third which seems to be a new development plan set by Harley-Davidson’s CEO,  Jochen Zeitz. Further details about this decision could be released by the end of this year.

Harley-Davidson seems to focus more on enhancing its core strengths and develop models for markets that matter which could be translated into manufacturing small displacement bikes. As hard to believe as it is, the company could be working on bikes fitted with small engines, but there are no official details on that matter.

“We are streamlining our motorcycle models by approximately 30%, with plans to further refine our product portfolio. This enables us to invest in the products and platforms that matter the most, while better balancing our investment in new high potential segments. In this context, we plan to expand our offering of iconic motorcycles, those which most embody the spirit of Harley-Davidson,” said Jochen Zeitz, Harley-Davidson’s CEO back in July.

The difference between Harley Davidson’s former CEO Matt Levatich strategy and current CEO Jochen Zeitz is that the company will develop in the future simpler motorcycles focused on the cruiser and custom segments on the motorcycle market rather than expanding to new markets. The new bikes could be fitted with air-cooled V-twin engines.

The Harley-Davidson Pan America and Bronx models were announced for the first time back in 2018 and marked the Milwaukee brand’s entry on the adventure motorcycle and streetfighter segments of the market. The bikes were fitted with a new water-cooled, DOHC Revolution Max engine in 1250cc and 975cc displacements. The Harley-Davidson Bronx featured a 975cc twin engine making 113 hp and 70 lb-ft of torque. Also, there was a rumour that the model would have a second version fitter with a larger engine – 1250cc engine making 143 hp and 90 lb-ft of torque.

Now, the Harley-Davidson Bronx is dropped from the 2021 model range and we hope that the company will still launch next year the Pan America adventure motorcycle.
