The CBR1000RR-R superbike reached 200 mph on the straight line
Alvaro Bautista’s Fireblade is the new king of top speed in WorldSBK. Second is Ducati followed by Kawasaki.
Alvaro Bautista reached a top speed of 322 kph (200 mph) at the end of the straight line at the Phillip Island tests in WorldSBK.
Although his speed on the fastest lap time was 317.6 kph and placed him 17th in the timesheets, the CBR1000RR-R was faster than the Ducati Panigale V4 R ridden by Chaz Davies.
The British rider was 13th on his fastest lap time with a top speed of 314.9 kph.
This rev limits of the superbikes decided by the FIM may have a consequence with the top speed of the machines in the 2020 WorldSBK season.

Fastest was Jonathan Rea on the Kawasaki ZX-10RR (310.3 kph) followed by Loris Baz on the Yamaha YZF R1 (305.9 kph) and Leon Haslam with the Honda CBR1000RR-R (312.1 kph).
The race-spec Panigale V4 R was launched in 2019 for the World Superbike Championship and was the king of speed back then. The Italian superbike was fitted with a new V$ engine configuration and surpassed the likes of Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda and BMW.
It looks like, the WorldSBK has a new leader as far as top speed goes in the form of the Honda CBR1000RR-R.
The first round of the WorldSBK will take place at Phillip Island between February 28 – March 1.
