Michelin began the shipping of its new adventure tire – Anakee Wild. It was designed for big adventure tourers like BMW R 1200 GS and KTM 1190 Adventure.
In fact, it is the off-road version of the popular Anakee III, which equips the factory-spec R 1200 GS. Michelin says that this tire is suitable both for tarmac and off-road (50/50). According to the press release, there is a good ratio between stability/comfort, durability and grip on wet/muddy roads. The guys at Michelin say that they were inspired by Michelin Desert Tires, who won 33 Paris-Dakar Titles.
The “Wild” Anakee has been under testing for the last three years by different riders, including the guys at T3 Adventure – specialized in trans-continental touring. For the moment, the tire will have only four sizes:
2 front sizes: 110/80 R 19 120/70 R 19
2 rear sizes: 150/70 R 17 170/60 R 17
So they can fit motorcycles such as BMW R 1200 GS/GSA, KTM 1190 Adventure/1290 Super Adventure or Triumph Tiger Explorer.
As for the price, the front is about $170, while the back costs $210.
That’s all we have for now, but we’re considering a long-term review of the tire soon.
